Think about where a typical customer spends the majority of time at your station. Probably at the pump while dispensing their fuel, right? They can easily be there for several minutes with not much to do except to observe their surroundings.
Impressing customers at the pump can actually entice them to walk into your convenience store when they’re done. And we all know that can build loyalty and return business.
Unfortunately, the opposite can happen when their surroundings at the pump are less than desirable. Go outside and take a quick look at what they’re seeing.
An island destination
Do your fuel islands have clean, smooth edges and fresh color? Or do you see rusted metal bands and cracked, crumbling, damaged concrete? It’s no surprise to anyone that excessive wear and tear from vehicles, chemicals and weather can wreak havoc.
Why take the chance that customers will overlook damaged fuel islands. After all, restoring them can be rather simple, economical and cause minimal disruption to your business. And, your end result will be a durable, attention-grabbing transformation.
The difference with epoxy mortar
Consider a concrete-alternative epoxy mortar fuel island restoration system. Benefits include:
- No more metal. Over time, metal bands around the island will rust and deteriorate, potentially even causing safety issues with exposed sharp edges. Look for a solution in which the metal is removed from the island and restored with a high-strength epoxy-mortar. That way there’s no need for metal reinforcement.
- Quicker project completion. Compared to the traditional tear out and replacement method, epoxy restorations re-use and build up the existing concrete foundation. There’s no need for pump removal, resulting in a shorter turnaround time. Pump closings can be staggered, as well, to keep you open throughout the project.
- Stronger foundation. Epoxy mortar systems are extremely durable; as much as 2-3 times stronger than standard concrete. Further, a topcoat layer protects against exposures to gasoline spills, road salt, oils, and other chemicals.
Epoxy-mortar restorations have grown in popularity over the past few years. They not only improve the fuel island’s appearance and durability, but save business owners from costly downtime as well.
