CASE STUDY: Concrete Repair for Thresholds at Extra Space Storage
LOCATION: Louisville, KY and Columbus, OH
OBJECTIVE:
Extra Space Storage’s objective was to cost-effectively enhance the deteriorated appearance and upgrade the structural integrity of concrete thresholds at two of their facilities. One facility, located in Louisville, KY consisted of 31 storage units with 264 linear feet of deteriorated concrete that needed to be removed and replaced. The other facility was in Columbus, OH and its 20 storage units required 160 linear feet of concrete to be removed and replaced.
Total Area 424 linear feet
Simon CR (Concrete Repair)
SOLUTION:
Simon Surfaces replaced the combined 424 linear feet of deteriorated standard concrete with Simon CR (Concrete Repair) material, an effective and economical solution to standard concrete replacement. Simon CR is a high-strength, epoxy-modified material that’s 2-3 times stronger than standard concrete and is highly resistant to chemicals and salt. The completely rebuilt thresholds now offered extended life, upgraded structural integrity and slip resistance.
END RESULT:
- Trip and fall safety concerns were resolved.
- Unit aesthetics were enhanced.
- Disruption was minimal with very little dust and debris.
- Cost savings were realized vs. concrete replacement.
- Thresholds were improved in strength and durability.
